Get the Look: Elizabeth Banks at the What to Expect When You're Expecting Premiere

I loved the slightly Gothic feeling of Elizabeth's Alexander McQueen dress.  It felt like an interpretation of a brocade you might find on a chair in an old English Castle.  From that inspiration I went with a wine color on the eyes and lips, with clean flawless skin and a subtle blush.

After moisturizing, I applied the foundation.  I've said it before and I'll say it again, I cannot work without the Beauty Blender.  It's become an indispensable part of my kit.  You can use it to build the foundation, or thin it out to a sheer finish or anywhere in between.  It's funny how you didn't know something was missing from your life until you find it.  Ok, that sounds a little dramatic, but it's true!  I can never go back to working without it.... After I set the foundation with a dusting of translucent power, I blushed the cheeks with a beautiful color from Edward Bess.  It's a soft peachy-bronzy color (it's actually a quad of blush colors) that adds life to the skin without really reading as blush.

I love a bordeaux color paired with blue eyes, it makes them extra clear and sparkly. I used the Chianti shadow from Josie Maran on the lid and a soft taupe blended up towards the brow.  I took the wine color and used it under the outer corners of the eye as well, fading it as it gets towards the inner corners.  Paired with black liner at the lash line, the color on the eye makes Elizabeth's eyes really pop.  I kept her brows a lighter color, but defined them and extended them just a touch.  Two coats of mascara on top--one on the bottom and viola, the eyes are done.

I am a little obsessed with lip pencils at the moment instead of lipstick or gloss.  There's something about the texture that I find really appealing.  This color form NARS is great because you can apply it heavily for a really defined lip, or you can pat it on, like we did, and get a pretty stain.  It's a gloss pencil (I know, HOW do they do that?!) so it still has a sheen to it, instead of being matte.

Hope you found some inspiration from the look that you can incorporate into your own makeup routine!

Kisses,
Fiona

Get the Look: Paula Patton at the Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon

I love Paula in a bare face and bold red lip.  It looked elegant and classic with her white dress, perfect for a day time event.  I decided to use bronzer on her lids instead of shadow to keep the look fluid and simple, just defining the upper lid by using a bit of black liner at the lash line.  This kept the eyes clean and easy.  The flirty lashes and red lip did all of the speaking for the look.

On a side note, I cannot get enough of the CoverGirl LipPerfection liner in "Passion".  It's such a modern red, not too pink, not too blue.  It looks beautiful on all skin tones, and can be worn on it's own or paired with your favorite red.  (Actually,  I love all of the colors in the LipPerfection collection, the formula is fantastic.  And right now I am liking a more matte lip, so this is a good way to achieve that look without a drying matte lipstick)

Fiona

Get the Look: Bella Heathcote at the Dark Shadows Premiere

Bella wore a beautiful white Chanel dress to her premiere of Dark Shadows.  To offset the girliness of the dress, we went with a stronger eye.  Black would have been too severe, so I did a soft smoky eye in deep purple.  I used the new (and totally amazing) MAC Extra Dimension Eyeshadow in Grand Galaxy, which is a deep lavender, over the lid.  It's a really interesting formula that feels almost moist even though it's in a powder/cake form.  It has a really pretty shimmer to it that's sparkly but not glittery that adds light to the eye.  I used the dark purple in the Dior quad at the outer corners of the eyes and along the lash line, and a bit of the pale icy pink in the inside corners of her eyes.  To add more drama to the eye I used the deep plum liner from Laura Mercier pushed into the lashes to make the lashes look fuller and darker.  A little pink cream blush on the cheeks keeps the skin fresh and dewy looking, and pale pink on the lips keeps all of the attention on her stunning blue eyes.

Fiona
